1
I dreamed that the great judgment morning
2
had dawned and the trumpets had blown.
3
I dreamed that all nations had gathered
4
to judgment before the white thrown.
5
From the thrown came a bright shining angel
6
and stood on the land and the sea.
7
And swore with his hand raised toward heaven
8
that time was no longer to be.
9
And oh, what a weeping and wailing
10
as the lost were told of their fate.
11
They cried for the rocks and the mountains
12
they prayed but their prayers were too late.
13
Oh the rich man was there but his money
14
had melted and vanished away.
15
A pauper he stood in the judgment,
16
his debts were to heavy to pay.
17
Now the great man was there but his greatness,
18
when death came, was left far behind.
19
The angels that opened all the records,
20
not a trace of his greatness could find.
21
The widow was there with the orphans,
22
God heard and remembered their cry.
23
No sorrow in heaven forever.
24
Oh God wiped all their tears from their eyes.
25
The gambler was there and the drunkard.
26
And the men that had sold them the drink
27
with the peope who gave them the license,
28
all together in hell they did sink.
29
The moral man came to the judgment
30
but his self-righteous rags would not do.
31
The men who had crucified jesus
32
had passed off as moral men too.
33
The soul that had put off salvation
34
"Not tonight, I'll get saved by and by.
35
No time now to think of religion."
36
At last they had found time to die.
37
And oh, what a weeping and wailing
38
as the lost they were told of there faith.
39
They cried for the rocks and the mountains,
40
oh they prayed but their prayers were too late.
41
They prayed but their prayers was too late.
